One slot drags an undead divorce through the Megaways courts, the other sends a fanged raccoon prowling through a haunted castle - and only one walks away with the crown.

In one corner stands Forever Split Megaways, Pragmatic Play's gothic courtroom drama about two vampires who have finally had enough of eternity together. It skips the usual Megaways trimmings in favour of horizontal multiplier rows and a Settlement Multiplier that feeds on every win.

In the other lurks Le Vampire, Hacksaw Gaming's latest costume change for Smokey the raccoon, who now plays a pointy-fanged Count with a strong dislike of sunlight. Behind the fangs sits the familiar Golden Squares engine, sharpened with new Blood Squares and an Epic symbol upgrade system.

Both games were released on the same date and are fighting over the same horror-loving crowd in this edition of slot wars, one leaning on Megaways and multipliers, the other stacking fresh layers onto a proven formula. Let's ring the bell!

Round 1: Winning Potential and RTP

The first round is all about the numbers, so let's see which bloodsucker brings the bigger bite.

Forever Split Megaways plays out on 6 reels, with two horizontally spinning rows sitting above and below the main grid. The leftmost reel holds up to five symbols, the rightmost up to six, and the four middle columns stretch to seven, opening up as many as 72,030 ways to win.

The slot runs at medium volatility with an RTP of 96.58%, and the max win is capped at 10,000x the bet. That puts it firmly in the balanced camp, with enough room for a big hit without the brutal swings of a high-volatility release.

Winning symbols disappear through Tumbles, with new ones dropping in until no fresh wins form. There are no Wilds here, so every payout has to be built from the regular symbols and whatever multipliers the horizontal rows can add.

Le Vampire also uses 6 reels, but it swaps ways for Cluster Pays, where five or more matching symbols touching each other form a win. Its Super Cascades clear not just the winning symbols but every other instance of that symbol type on the grid, giving the refill a better shot at sparking another win.

Volatility is likewise medium, but the RTP climbs to a generous 97.57% and the max win reaches 15,000x the bet. That top prize can land in the base game as well as in every bonus round.

With matching volatility, Le Vampire's extra 5,000x the bet at the top end gives it a clear lead in the numbers game. Round 1 goes to Le Vampire.

Round 2: Bonus Features

Forever Split's bonus play revolves around one big idea, while Le Vampire throws a full toolbox at the grid.

Forever Split Megaways builds everything around the Settlement Multiplier. Paying symbols on the top and bottom horizontal rows can land carrying multipliers from 1x to 15x, and whenever they take part in a win, their values are added to a running total that multiplies the payout.

In the base game, that total resets at the end of every spin, and the multiplier symbols are tricky to connect with wins. Still, the fact that the mechanic is live from the very first spin means even a quiet base game can suddenly spring a surprise.

Free spins are triggered by 3 Scatters, which can only land on the main reels, not on the horizontal rows. You start with 10 free spins, plus 5 extra spins for every additional Scatter beyond the third.

This is where the game finally gets to draw blood, as the Settlement Multiplier now stays in place for the entire round. On top of that, every paying symbol on the special rows is guaranteed to carry a multiplier, so the total can climb to some genuinely hefty levels when the collection gets going.

Le Vampire runs on the Golden Squares system that made the Le series famous. Every win leaves the positions behind it highlighted, and when a Rainbow symbol lands, those squares flip over to reveal Coins, Clovers, Bags of Gold or Pots of Gold.

Coins range from 0.2x to 4x for Bronze up to 100x to 500x for Diamonds, with Silver and Gold sitting in between. Green Clovers then multiply neighbouring values, while Gold Clovers multiply every Coin and collector on the grid, both by 2x to 20x.

Bags of Gold collect everything in the surrounding 3x3 area and can trigger fresh reveals, while Pots of Gold sweep up every value on screen. It's a chain reaction that can snowball quickly when the right symbols line up.

The new twist comes from the Epic Rainbow, which highlights the whole grid and can trigger Blood Rain, turning every position into a Blood Square. These behave like Golden Squares but never reveal Bronze Coins, so every reveal starts from a higher floor.

The bonus side comes in three tiers, each starting with 10 free spins. Coffin Break opens with 3 Scatters, keeping Golden and Blood Squares highlighted until a Rainbow activates them and upgrading any winning premium symbol to its Epic version for the rest of the round.

Each upgrade fills a level on the Symbol Bar, adding 2 extra spins every time, and reaching the fourth level also guarantees a Rainbow or Epic Rainbow on the next spin. Wins involving Epic symbols leave Blood Squares behind, which is where the round's real value starts piling up.

Love At First Bite needs 4 Scatters and keeps squares highlighted even after they've been activated, so the grid steadily stacks up value. The top-tier Do Your Fang round needs 5 Scatters and guarantees a Rainbow or Epic Rainbow on every spin, with every Coin worth at least 1x.

Forever Split's persistent multiplier is a strong single hook, but Le Vampire's three-tier ladder and layered reveal system simply offer more routes to a big win. Round 2 goes to Le Vampire.

Round 3: Visuals and Audio

This is where the scorecard swings the other way, and quite decisively. While they feature a vampire horror slot theme, both games have gone in different directions - storywise and visually.

Forever Split Megaways goes all in on an undead divorce theme, a premise you genuinely won't find anywhere else in the crowded vampire genre. The game opens on two vampire exes facing each other across a negotiating table, one holding the paperwork while the other sips from a cup of something suspiciously red.

Their new partners, or perhaps their lawyers, watch on from the sidelines as the drama unfolds. More of the backstory is revealed during win count-ups, hinting at the affairs and betrayals that pushed this eternal marriage past breaking point.

Even the symbols play along, with a ring-adorned finger, a watch, a necklace and a picture looking like the spoils of a messy settlement. The feuding couple themselves take the top spots on the paytable, which feels fitting for a game built entirely around their falling-out.

Le Vampire wraps the classic vampire castle theme around Smokey, who trades his usual outfit for a Nosferatu-style look. The action moves from a grand old house through a graveyard to a great hall, all drawn in the cartoonish style that runs through the whole Le series.

It's polished and undeniably good-looking, but the cute presentation means Count Smokey comes across as more mischievous than menacing. More importantly, a raccoon in a vampire costume is still the same raccoon, and the reskin does little to hide how familiar the formula has become.

Le Vampire looks the part, but Forever Split brings a genuinely original story to a genre full of lookalikes. Round 3 goes to Forever Split Megaways.

And The Winner Is…

Two rounds to one, Le Vampire takes the crown, powered by its 15,000x the bet max win, higher RTP and far deeper bonus ladder. Smokey may be wearing a familiar costume, but the numbers and features underneath are hard to argue with.

Forever Split Megaways still deserves real credit for daring to tell a fresh story, and its persistent Settlement Multiplier gives Megaways fans plenty to sink their teeth into. In this courtroom, though, the raccoon walks out with the settlement.
