Round 1: Winning Potential And RTP

The puppy-inspired release is a sequel to Pragmatic's hit series that started with The Dog House slot. This version is played on a 5x3 grid and offers a big winning potential of up to 9,000x the stake

Its rival on the other hand is played on a grid with 6 reels and changing rows in a 3-4-4-4-4-3 formation. That provides up to 2,304 ways to win, while the maximum prize is massive - going all the way up to 30,000x the bet!

Both slots have highly volatile gameplay, ranked 5 out of 5 by the provider. The difference in the return to player percentage is so low that it is insignificant - The Dog House Multihold has an RTP of 96.06%, while its rivals feature an RTP of 96.08%. If we were nitpicking, the RTP also goes as the advantage towards Cowboy Coins slot that is the absolute winner of this round.

Round 2: Bonus Features

While the base game and presentation of the puppy slot resemble its predecessors, the bonus features are where The Dog House Multihold starts to diverge from the original. Starting with a bonus round triggered when 3 paw bonus symbols hit on reels 1, 3 and 5, awarding 7 free spins.

For this round, the grid changes, displaying up to 5x3 game grids instead of one. Just one game grid is active at the beginning and whenever paw bonus symbols land, they are collected on the next locked game matrix.

Three collected bonus symbols unlock the next grid. During free spins, every Wild that appears on the last unlocked game grid turns sticky. Sticky Wilds stay in locked positions until the end of the round.

To make things better, when a new grid is unlocked, it will have Sticky Wilds in the same positions as they have landed on the previous grid. One to three additional free spins are awarded every time a grid is unlocked. If two grids get unlocked on the same free spin, the awarded extra spins are doubled and Wilds are copied to both new grids.

Cowboy Coins comes with a bit more modifiers even though it doesn’t have a Wild symbol. Instead, the game focuses mostly on Money symbols with up to 10x the bet value. These symbols can land on all reels except reels 1 and 6.

The first reel is reserved for a special Payer symbol. This symbol lands with a random value and when it does, its value is added to the values of any Money symbols in view.

Collector symbol can only appear on reel 6, also with a random value. When Collector hits, it collects the value of all Money symbols on the grid, adds its own value to it and awards the total to the player.

Three Scatters trigger the bonus round that starts with 3 respins and features only Money, special symbols and super special symbols on the grid. New reels are added to the edges and special symbols land there during respins while Money symbols fall on the main grid.

Symbols lock in place when they hit, resetting the number of respins back to 3 again. Special symbols include:

  • Payer - add their values to the Money symbols
  • Multi Collector - pay their value plus a random Money symbol value
  • Collector - pay their value plus the value of all Money symbols in view
  • Double Booster - double the value of 2 to 5 random Money symbols.

Every type of special symbol can appear in a super version. The only difference between normal special symbols and super ones is that super special symbols repeat the action on each spin.

Both slots feature Buy Bonus options, but while The Dog House Multihold offers just one version, Cowboy Coins provide 5 different bonus variants to be purchased. Due to more numerous features altogether, the cowboy-inspired release is the winner of this round as well.

Round 3: Visuals And Audio

Since it is a sequel, players are well familiar with the theme of the doggy-oriented slot. It is cute and adorable and its recognizable visuals that follow both original and The Dog House Megaways slot have won the hearts of many.

In comparison, Cowboy Coins feature the superb level of graphics and animation Pragmatic Play is known for. However, the Wild West theme is a bit overused and visually speaking doesn’t offer anything new or fresh. That’s why The Dog House Multihand wins this round.

And The Winner Is…

With such a huge winning potential and so many modifiers, Cowboy Coins is the winner of this episode of slot wars. However, that doesn’t take anything away from The Dog House Multihand which is an amazing sequel to the slot series everybody knows and loves.

These are simply completely different slots, tailored for a different audience, but equally great each in its own way. So don’t hesitate to try them both, as it will be worth your while.
